August 25 Block

Rather grim day today.  This was the first payday with the new deductions for health care and pensions.  For family coverage it's a average of $130 more per month, plus the 10% deduction for pension.  No doubt a full professor can take this kind of hit without much damage.  I'm fortunate that my partner, Rick, is employed.  My fear is that single parents at the low end of the pay scale will have to drop their health coverage in favor of buying food....
